Twenty Ways to Raise Our Global Intelligence
by Mark Gerzon
(excerpted from pages 167-194 from his book Global Citizens, which fully addresses these twenty principles)
- Be the change that you want to see in the world.
- Use both sides of your brain.
- Remember that ‘one’ comes before ‘two’.
- Make sure your house has a door.
- Think like a minority.
- Increase your knowledge–including how to not know.
- Test your world view against the actual facts.
- Know your enemy–inside and out.
- Transform stereotypes into relationships.
- Ask questions that stretch your mind.
- When the Earth speaks, listen.
- Focus patiently on what works.
- Do it across borders.
- Think both profits and values.
- Travel far from–and close to–home.
- Seek common ground.
- Speak more than one language.
- Learn to see through walls.
- Explore the mysteries of the sacred.
- Global citizens, unite!
